RIGHT TO LOVE : Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India- A Transformative Constitution and the Rights of LGBT Persons
The decision in Navtej Singh Johar v Union of India, which read down Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code on 6th of September 2018 marked a historic victory for a vibrant and vociferous LGBT movement, which for over 17 years had been demanding the repeal of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. The decision itself built upon a history of struggle carried out relentlessly across the country which involved pride marches, protests, demonstrations as well as courageous individual acts of LGBT persons coming out in their workplaces, families as well as in the media.
