6 Dec|Sat|6 PM|Talk by Pratik Sinha
Alternative Law Forum cordially invites you to a talk by Mr. Pratik Sinha followed by a discussion. Pratik Sinha is an integral part of the Truth of Gujarat campaign which believes in a secular democratic institution and rights of the employees. Many of the projects undertaken by Truth of Gujarat highlight often hidden truths of state violence.
The discussion will be centered around the 2002 Gujarat Riots, throwing light on the strategies learnt from the riots with regard to Fake Encounters; the Congress’ vote bank politics in Gujarat; RSS’ cadre building as against the mass alienation by Congress and the trader community of Gujaratis. Following with the main theme, he will also talk about how the Indian government ignored the systematic rise of BJP and labelled this rise as the Gujarat Syndrome. He will further discuss the role of Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM) and NGOs in Gujarat for the quest of justice and how similar efforts are missing in the rest of the country.
With regard to what we should expect now (in the context of infiltration of all key organizations, hyper nationalism, continued targeting of minority communities, saffronization of education), he will speak about how the Congress in the Center failed us and end by discussing the way forward.
The discussion is on 6th December 2014, 6 p.m. at ALF, 122/4, Infantry Road, (Next to Balaji Art Gallery), Bangalore (Nearest Bus Stop: Shivaji Nagar bus depot)
