Law and Society Reader
It is commonly recognized that law is one of the most severely contested sites in India. What is often ignored is that the archive is an equally important site for contestations around law, social struggles and power. If the official memory of the law resides in court records and cases, the social life of law has been preserved in scattered archives. This database attempts to begin a collaborative process through which we can piece together the story of law and society scholarship in India.
