A founder member of ALF, Arvind has done a bachelor’s in law from NLSIU followed by a masters in the University of Warwick on a Chevening scholarship. After two years spent at the NLSIU Centre for the Child and the Law where he was actively involved in working on child rights and juvenile justice. He also taught courses at the NLSIU on human rights law and ideology, ethnic conflict, law; poverty and development. Danish graduated from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, following which he pursued a master’s degree at the University of Michigan Law School on a Michigan Grotius Fellowship. He primarily works on research and advocacy relating to Gender and Sexuality law along with issues relating to Free Speech and Access to Knowledge. He is also interested in pedagogy, and has taught courses in Law and Popular Culture and Media Law and is currently developing a course on Law and Literature.
Darshana graduated from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences in 2012. Her areas of interest include environmental ethics, social movements and gender. Lawrence, a graduate form National Law School subsequently pursued his Masters degree in Warwick, England on a Chevening Scholarship. His key areas of interest are law, technology and culture, the politics of copyright and he has been working closely with Sarai, New Delhi on a joint research project Intellectual Property and the Knowledge/Culture Commons. Siddharth has graduated from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore and the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. His areas of interest include issues related to gender and sexuality, media laws and censorship, and the politics of the judiciary. Smarika graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law and arts. She presently works on legal issues concerning media content and infrastructure, copyright and access to knowledge. Vinay’s areas of interests include Urban Transport, Urban Poverty, Informal Sector and Urban Governance. He has also been part of initiatives promoting Free and Open Source Software in the government. He holds an engineering degree and was in the IT industry till 2007.
